Statement from Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady on the Republican Gubernatorial Primary
3/8/2010 9:16:27 AM
Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady released the following statement regarding the Republican Gubernatorial Primary:
"After a competitive primary contest that focused on issues that matter most to the people of Illinois, I would like to congratulate state Senator Bill Brady as our Republican gubernatorial candidate. Both state Senator Bill Brady and state Senator Kirk Dillard ran great campaigns and should be commended for their work on behalf of Illinois voters. I am excited to work with both Brady and Dillard as we work together to take back the governor’s office from Democratic Governor Pat Quinn, retake Barack Obama's Senate seat and pick up seats up and down the ballot.
"Republicans ran issue-oriented campaigns that focused on how we achieve fiscal responsibility by lowering taxes, controlling spending and loosening regulation. Compare that with the Democrats who have been in charge of the mismanagement yet continued to argue about who would raise taxes the highest, and it's easy to see why Republicans are excited about our chances in November. Illinois voters are tired of the state's culture of corruption as well as the Democrats' penchant for binge spending and raising taxes to pay for it. Come November they will have positive alternatives on the Republican ticket led by state Senator Bill Brady, Lt. Governor candidate Jason Plummer and Senate candidate Mark Kirk, and I am confident we will come out on top to lead Illinois forward."
