Chairman Roupas Statement on Election of Scott Brown
1/20/2010 9:12:17 PM
Dear Friends:
Yesterday, Massachusetts took the lead in the Republican reform agenda that will reverberate through 2010 across the nation and Illinois. Massachusetts voters sent a clear message to Washington that the size and scope of government is spinning out of control. Scott Brown, in defeating Martha Coakley to replace the late Senator Ted Kennedy, became not only a powerful symbol for Republican reform, but also became the 41st Republican vote in the Senate, effectively putting an important check on President Obama's ability to push through more and more spending initiatives.
The message and directive for Illinois is clear: We are next. Republican victories in New Jersey, Virginia, and now the bluest of states Massachusetts, tells us that the voter sentiment exists for us to have great success in Illinois and Cook County in 2010. What is needed now is a unified Republican Party going into November and dedicated volunteers to spread the message of reform.
The one-party Democrat rule that has dominated Illinois for the past 8 years and Cook County government for the last 50 years has brought in a devestating economy and a terrible national reputation. 2010, more than any time in recent history, is our opportunity to change the tide here at home. Join us in this historic election year - volunteer today!
As important as volunteers, we need financial contributions to help us fight Todd Stroger, Mike Madigan and other Chicago Democrats that have a stranglehold on government at all levels in Illinois. Please make a contribution of $25, $50, or $100 and help us wage this critical battle.
